How AD buggy terrain differs from Dubai

Lahbab in Dubai is the standard tourist desert — well-mapped, mid-size dunes, plenty of operators. Al Khatim sits roughly an hour south of Abu Dhabi city and is a step bigger: longer dune lines, fewer convoys, more open space to extend a run. Liwa is another step further into the south of the country and the dunes there are different again — taller, longer, with the open Empty Quarter behind them. A buggy day in Liwa feels like a different country compared to a Dubai 30-minute slot. The trade-off is the cross-emirate logistics and the day length.

Why AD buggy is quote-only

Final price depends on group size, vehicle count, route choice (Al Khatim half-day vs. Liwa full-day vs. Empty Quarter overnight), and whether you want a partner-camp meal. We do not publish a fake fixed 'from' price for AD because the parameters span too wide a range. Send the parameters on WhatsApp and the quote comes back with itemised costs — transfer, buggy session, partner-camp meal, photography add-on — so you can see the breakdown rather than a single bundle figure.

Is the buggy the same as the Dubai fleet?

Same operating fleet (Can-Am, Polaris, 2/4-seater) staged for the AD route. Vehicle prep is different — tyre pressure tuned for taller dunes, fuel and water reserves higher for longer day.

Can I drive solo or do I need a guide?

Lead-guide convoy is standard for AD because the routes are bigger and recovery distances are longer. Self-drive solo is not offered on AD.

What's the minimum age?

Driver minimum 18 with a valid licence. Passenger seats from age 5 with adult driver and child harness.

How long is a typical AD buggy day from Dubai?

8-12 hours door-to-door including transfer. A pure half-day buggy session inside AD without Dubai transfer can be 4 hours.

Can the day include Liwa instead of Al Khatim?

Yes — Liwa is a longer transfer (about 2.5 hours from Abu Dhabi city) so we plan the whole day around it. Mention Liwa at quote time so we route the transfer.
