Who runs the convoys
Lead guides on our buggy and quad convoys are drivers who handle the Lahbab red-dune zone daily. They run the briefing, pick the route, set convoy spacing, and recover stuck vehicles. They speak working English at minimum; many speak Arabic, Hindi, Urdu, Russian or Mandarin. We rotate the lead-guide pool by day, so the specific guide on your booking depends on the day's schedule — we don't promise a named guide unless you've requested one in advance and we've confirmed availability.
Roles in the operations team
- Booking team: handles WhatsApp inquiries, confirms driver and vehicle plate, sends reminders.
- Pickup drivers: collect guests at hotels in 4x4 SUVs / Land Cruisers and transfer to the staging area.
- Lead guides: run the briefing, lead the convoy, signal stops and recoveries on the dunes.
- Safari drivers: handle dune-bashing 4x4 routes for desert safari bookings (passenger-only).
- Camp staff: partner camps' staff handle the BBQ buffet, henna, sandboarding and live shows.
- Photographer (opt-in add-on): independent photographer engaged per booking; not a full-time team member.
- Office team: walk-in handling at DAMAC Smart Heights, accounting, corporate quotes.
Languages on the convoy
Our team collectively speaks English, Arabic, Hindi, Urdu, Russian, Mandarin and Tagalog — but not every guide speaks every language. If a specific language matters for your booking (a guest who only speaks Russian, for example), mention it on the WhatsApp booking message. We schedule the matching guide on your slot when possible. We don't promise a Russian-speaking guide on every booking by default because the rota changes daily.
What guide certifications we don't claim (yet)
Other Dubai operators advertise specific safety certifications (e.g. desert safari driver licences, first-aid certifications, IATA/DTCM training) on their team page. We don't list those for our team until each guide's specific document is on file in our records and the guide has agreed to publish it. Until then, the team page stays honest about what's verified — operational experience, language coverage, day-to-day handling — without inflating with unverified credential claims.
