Safety & Certifications

Vehicle safety check process, briefing flow, first-aid kit. DET / DTCM trade licence 27023445 published. Insurance disclosure verified before publish.

Al Jazeera Tours runs a vehicle pre-flight check on every buggy and quad before each session, plus a guest briefing covering body position, throttle and convoy rules. We do not publish blanket insurance claims until the activity provider's certificate is verified.

Operational safety practices

Safety on a desert convoy is operational, not paperwork. Every session starts with a 15-20 minute briefing covering throttle technique, line choice, recovery, body position and convoy spacing. Every vehicle gets a pre-session check (tyre pressure for sand, harness function, fuel level, light and horn check). Every rider wears a helmet, goggles and gloves; closed-toe shoes are mandatory. Lead guides carry a tow strap for stuck vehicles and a basic first-aid kit. None of this is unique to us — it's what every responsible Dubai operator does — but the difference between 'we do this' and 'we tell you about it' matters for trust.

What we do every session

  • Vehicle pre-flight check: tyre pressure, harness lock, brake check, fuel, lights, horn
  • Helmet fit-check (must be snug, no movement when shaking head)
  • Goggles + gloves issued + verified before vehicle release
  • Closed-toe shoes verified at briefing — open footwear refused
  • 15-20 minute briefing on throttle, line, recovery, convoy spacing, signals
  • Convoy spacing rule: 3 vehicle-lengths between vehicles
  • Lead guide signals: thumbs up = continue, hand flat down = slow, lights flashed = stop, double honk = emergency stop
  • Tow strap and first-aid kit on every convoy
  • Convoy speed cap — set by the lead guide, paced to the slowest comfortable rider

What we do per guest condition

  • Pregnancy, recent spinal/abdominal surgery (within 6 months), active back injury: dune-bashing portion refused at the briefing.
  • Children under 5: dune buggy 4-seater family ride only with child harness; no quad on open desert.
  • Children in supervised quad zone: parent must remain trackside; never on open dune line.
  • Recent illness or motion sensitivity: shorter slot (30 min) recommended; mention at booking.
  • Mobility limits: see /accessibility/ for safari and camel options.

DET / DTCM trade licence

We hold a Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET / DTCM) trade licence under number 27023445. This number is published in the footer of every page on this site and embedded in our LocalBusiness structured-data identifier. Insurance certificate scope and any specific guide certifications continue to be verified internally before being published — we do not list blanket insurance terms or coverage wording without the underlying certificate on file. This is policy: we under-claim rather than misrepresent. Once each remaining document is signed off, this page is updated and the relevant schema gates flip on.

What is verified and published

  • DET / DTCM trade licence number: 27023445
  • Google Place ID — embedded in LocalBusiness schema
  • Address, phone, WhatsApp, email, hours (verified NAP)
  • Service area: Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Ras Al Khaimah
  • Verified pricing tiers for buggy, quad, safari, balloon

What we don't claim (until verified)

  • Blanket coverage wording without the underlying certificate (these phrasings are blocked sitewide via the validator)
  • Vehicle damage-waiver bundle wording (blocked phrase)
  • Specific named guide certifications (DTCM training, IATA, off-road instructor)
  • Award listings (validator blocks the marketing phrasing)
  • Specific guest accident statistics or zero-incident claims
FAQ

Safety FAQ

Are guides certified?
Specific certifications are verified before being published on this page. Operationally, lead guides handle the Lahbab dune zone daily; that's the strongest practical credential we offer.
What's the insurance coverage?
We don't advertise blanket insurance terms because we don't carry the certificate publicly. Guests are encouraged to maintain their own travel insurance. Off-road desert activities carry inherent risk; this is acknowledged in the booking waiver.
What happens if there's an injury on the convoy?
Lead guide stops the convoy, applies first-aid from the on-board kit, calls Dubai emergency services if needed. Guests are responsible for their own travel insurance for medical evacuation or hospitalisation.
Can pregnant guests ride?
Pregnancy is refused on the dune-bashing portion of any active activity. The desert safari camp evening (no dune-bashing) and a static camel intro are alternative options.
Do you have an emergency contact for guests already on a tour?
Each booking confirmation includes the lead guide's number. The office line +971 50 496 8087 is the backup.
