FAQ

Animal welfare

How are the camels treated?
Working camels rotate between rest and ride, so each animal is under saddle a limited part of the day. Handlers are full-time Bedouin operators who live with the herd. Veterinary check-ups are part of the operator's standard.
Are camels rideable in summer?
We do not run rides in extreme heat — mid-day pause from May to September. Morning and sunset slots only during summer.
What welfare standards do you enforce?
No riding when an animal shows fatigue. Water and shade at every staging point. No painful gear (we use traditional saddle + blanket). No 'jumping' or fast-pace turns under guest weight.
Why some operators run rides in mid-day?
We can't speak for other operators; our policy is mid-day pause in summer. Welfare concerns come up specifically around mid-day rides; we don't do them.
FAQ

Age and weight

Is there a weight limit?
Yes — varies per camel, confirmed at the meeting point. Heavier riders matched to bigger camels; very heavy riders may be refused per welfare rules.
Can children ride?
Yes with a parent walking alongside. Minimum age confirmed at booking — typically 4-5 years can ride seated in front of an adult on the same camel.
Can elderly guests ride?
Yes — pace is slow, handler walks alongside. Guests with significant balance issues should consult their doctor; the camel rise/sit motion is the main physical demand.
Is it safe with back issues?
Mild back issues fine; severe back pain or recent spinal surgery — skip and try a different activity. The camel motion is more side-to-side than vertical.
FAQ

Logistics and pickup

Is hotel pickup included?
Yes for most Dubai zones. Distant zones carry a transfer surcharge.
How long is the ride?
30 minutes for the standard desert ride. Sunset slot is similar duration but timed for golden-hour photography.
What should I wear?
Closed-toe shoes (sand can be hot in season). Light long sleeves preferred. Hat or scarf useful for sun. Bring a phone in a zipped pocket only.
Can I take photos during the ride?
Yes — most guests photograph from the camel's saddle and on the dune crest stop. Handler is happy to pause for photos.
Is professional photography allowed?
Yes with pre-arrangement. Photographer add-on quoted separately.
