What an overnight safari is
An overnight safari is the standard evening safari extended into a sleep. Same afternoon pickup, same dune-bashing run, same camp arrival and BBQ dinner. After dinner the day-trip guests leave; overnight guests stay. The camp transitions from buffet evening to a quiet stargazing setup. You sleep in a Bedouin-style tent with mattress and bedding provided. Breakfast is served around sunrise. Return transfer to your hotel mid-morning. The whole package is roughly 17-18 hours from pickup to drop-off.

- BBQ buffet dinner with vegetarian / halal options
- Welcome shows (varies by camp partner)
- Tent assignment after dinner — Bedouin-style fabric tent with mattress, bedding, pillow
- Stargazing area away from camp lights
- Bonfire (subject to weather and camp policy)
- Sunrise and morning quiet time
- Continental or Arabic breakfast at the camp
- Return transfer to your hotel by 09:00-10:30
Tent and bedding logic
- Tents are shared between two guests by default (mattresses set side-by-side); private tent quoted separately
- Bedding: thick mattress + cotton sheet + blanket. Winter (Dec-Feb) gets a heavier blanket as nights drop to 8-12°C
- Pillow provided. Bring your own if you have a strong preference
- Tent has a curtain entrance, no internal lock. Camps are staffed overnight
- Mosquito net depending on season; mosquitoes are minimal in deep desert, more present in spring
- Toilets and washbasins are at the camp (flushing toilets, basic but clean)
What overnight gives you that evening doesn't
Three things. First, the silence after the day guests leave — the camp drops to maybe 20% capacity and the desert silence becomes audible. Second, the night sky — in Lahbab the light pollution is much lower than central Dubai, and on a clear winter night the Milky Way is visible. Third, the sunrise itself — a desert sunrise is noticeably different from one over a city, and you wake up inside that landscape rather than driving back out to find it. The trade-off is the comfort gap (this is camping, not a desert hotel) and the time commitment.
