What private balloon charter actually means

Standard balloon flights pack 16-24 guests into a single large basket. Private charter is the opposite: your group occupies the basket alone, with a smaller basket sized for 2-8 guests depending on the configuration the operator partner has available. Take-off slot can be timed more flexibly than the fixed-departure shared flights, photographer arrangements are easier (no other guests in your shots), and the post-flight breakfast / refreshment portion is private. The operating partner is GCAA-licensed; we coordinate the booking and pickup logistics — we do not own the balloon or fly it.

Quotes come back with the operator's basket price + our coordination + any add-ons listed separately.

What's the minimum group size?

2 guests for a couples charter. Single-guest charter is technically possible but the per-person cost is high.

What's the maximum?

Operator-dependent — typically 6-8 guests for 'private charter' baskets. Larger private flights run as semi-private (your group has the basket but other groups fly in separate parallel baskets at the same launch).

Can I propose during the flight?

Yes — pilot briefed in advance, ring secured by the lead guide before take-off, photographer positioned at landing for the post-touchdown moment. Mention at quote time.

What if the launch is cancelled by weather?

Operator typically reschedules to next morning at no charge. If you cannot stay to reschedule, refund policy applies per /refund-policy/.

Is alcohol available on the toast?

Operator partner serves non-alcoholic by default; alcoholic upgrade depends on partner licence. Stated in the quote.

How far ahead should I book?

Private charter slots fill 2-4 weeks ahead in peak season (Oct-Apr). Off-peak summer 1-2 weeks ahead is usually fine.
