Quad biking FAQ in Dubai answers age, licence, what-to-wear, cancellation, group rules, hotel pickup, refund, and weather questions. Adults can ride without a driving licence on the automatic ATV; the Raptor is reserved for confident riders.
FAQ
Eligibility and licence
Do I need a driving licence?
No. ATV in the desert does not require a UAE driving licence. The COBRA and standard single-seater are automatic — no clutch, no gears. The Yamaha Grizzly is reserved for confident riders, but still no licence required.
What's the minimum age?
18 to ride solo on the open-dune adult convoy. Children 5-15 ride in the supervised zone with a child-fit ATV. /quad-biking-dubai/for-kids/ has the age table.
Is there a maximum age?
No fixed maximum. Anyone with active back/neck injury or recent abdominal surgery should skip ATV — mention any medical concern at the briefing.
What's the weight limit?
Standard ATV handles up to ~120 kg comfortably. Heavier riders pair to a Grizzly (higher-power option). Mention at booking so we route to the right vehicle.
FAQ
What to wear and bring
What should I wear?
Closed-toe shoes (mandatory — sandals refused), light long sleeves (sun protection), sunglasses for goggles backup, hair tie if long. We provide helmet, goggles, gloves.
Should I bring water?
We have water at the staging area. Bring a refillable bottle if you have a strong preference.
Can I ride in shorts and a t-shirt?
Possible but not recommended. The desert can scratch and the throttle hand can get sun-burned. Light long-sleeve outperforms short-sleeve.
Should I bring a phone or camera?
Phone in a zipped pocket only — open-pocket phones get lost on the dunes. Photographer add-on quoted separately if you want professional shots.
FAQ
Cancellation, refund, weather
Cancellation policy?
See /cancellation-policy/ for the verbatim fee schedule (96+, 72+, under-24h tiers).
What if it rains?
Light rain — tour proceeds. Heavy rain or sandstorm — rescheduled at no charge. Operator decision made on the morning of the booking.
What if I show up and decide not to ride?
Once the bike is released, the rental cannot be refunded. Pre-release decision (after briefing, before vehicle release) is refundable per cancellation timing.
What if my partner doesn't want to ride but I do?
Standard single-seater booking is per bike. Partner can come along as observer at no extra cost; bring shaded seating preference.
FAQ
Convoy and group rules
Convoy spacing rules?
Three ATV lengths between vehicles. No overtaking the lead guide. Hand signals from lead guide: thumbs up = continue, hand flat = slow, double honk = emergency stop.
Can I ride at my own pace?
Lead guide sets the pace to the slowest comfortable rider. If you want a fast-pace ride and the group is mixed, mention at booking — we may run a faster-pace mini-convoy.
What if I want to skip part of the route?
Tell the lead guide. The convoy can route back to staging via the easier line; the unused portion of the slot is not refunded.
Can I overtake another quad?
No — overtaking on a convoy is a safety break. Side-to-side dust visibility is poor and recovery distances on dunes are long.
FAQ
Hotel pickup and logistics
Is hotel pickup included?
Yes for most Dubai zones. Distant zones (Jebel Ali Free Zone, distant Sharjah) carry a transfer surcharge.
How long is the transfer?
30-50 minutes from Marina/JBR/Downtown to the staging area. Longer from Deira/Bur Dubai.
What time should I be ready?
Confirmation message states the pickup window. Be downstairs 5 minutes before the start of the window.
Can I drive myself to the staging area?
Yes if you have a 4x4 — staging area is reachable by 4x4 only. Sedans cannot reach. We provide GPS coordinates.
